Year 11 Exams
Posted: 7/01/21
The Education Secretary has shared new information regarding GCSE exams in summer 2021. He confirmed the following:
‘GCSEs and A and AS Level exams will not go ahead this summer. This year we are going to put our trust in teachers rather than algorithms.
While the details will need to be fine-tuned in consultation with Ofqual, the exam boards and teaching representatives, I can confirm now that I wish to use a form of teacher-assessed grades, with training and support provided to ensure these are awarded fairly and consistently.’
At present, we do not know how the process of awarding grades will work and what the teacher assessment will be based on. Therefore, it is imperative that students continue to engage in their live lessons and complete the work being set as it may be required for evidence later in the year. This is a valuable opportunity for students to produce work at a higher level.
If students have any queries about work they are being asked to complete, they should email their class teacher for further support or contact the Year 11 Team.
We will continue to share any new information with you.
