Live Online Careers Talk: Civil Service Careers
Wednesday 23rd March 3:30 - 4:00pm
Some people know exactly what they want to do when they leave school. Shifra, our presenter, was someone who had no clue about her future career so she just took A-Levels in the subjects she enjoyed and hoped she would find a path at some stage.
Shifra told us that she knew she wanted to do something with her life that had an impact, but didn't really know how to go about it. Luckily her mum suggested the civil service. Shifra hadn't really thought about working in government until then.
Nearly 20 years later, she has had some pretty amazing roles, including a visit to a Spanish olive grove, getting the 'traffic light' system put on food labels and blowing up a bus...
So, if you are someone who is undecided about a career, why not consider the civil service? The presentation will explain how you can enter the service and the range of specialist and generalist roles that could be available to you. If you want to shape the society you live in, you have to be willing to actively engage in the issues that drive it! â
If you would like to register your child for this careers talk, please contact Miss Bishop (careers@oaksparkhigh.org.uk) by Tuesday 22nd March.
