Students Campaign for Better Travel
Posted: 3/01/23
Students from Year 7 and 8 were thrilled when local MP Elliott Colborn and his assistant Max came to Oaks Park to listen to the group’s views on the how bus services to and from our school could be improved.
The students had done thorough research amongst their peers, parents and carers and found out that many students don’t feel safe on the buses, or while waiting for buses, and also think there just aren't enough buses to meet demand.
Elliott praised the students for their thorough research, telling students that their campaign was spot on, as they had data, evidence, and had put a lot of thought into the presentation. Assistant Headteacher, Miss Alden, said she was extremely proud of the group who had created the campaign.
The group included Jacob, Joseph, Jasper, Moustafa, Hera, Amber, Alice and Jessica. They shared their own experiences as well as those of their interviewees. The next stage of the campaign is to find out the local community’s views and to continue to look at possible solutions.
